Party Splits for Investigation

Summary

During Session 2 of the campaign, the party divided their efforts to investigate Dunko Guzman's involvement in recent events. Safia remained outside the Pinecone Restaurant and Spa with five pigs—Paisley, Fajirald, Lutro, Carl, and Mayor—to attempt gathering intelligence through conversation, as the pigs had not been forthcoming with information previously. Meanwhile, Vasso, Sucks, and Katniss proceeded to investigate Dunko Guzman's Private Quarters on the second floor. The split allowed the party to pursue multiple leads simultaneously while managing practical concerns, including keeping Monster, the cat covered in fish oil, outside to avoid drawing attention.

Details

The decision to split came from Safia's realization that the pigs might provide more information with dedicated attention. As Safia stated: "I was just going to say that maybe I should stay here with the pigs, and maybe I can learn a little bit more from them." This reflected the party's earlier frustration with the pigs' lack of useful information and Safia's unique ability to communicate with animals.

Vasso approached the split with characteristic duty, declaring: "Well, out of a general sense of duty, we must go upstairs and investigate." Sucks was more direct about their motivation: "Yeah. Also, I'm bored, so I do also want to go upstairs, figure out what's up there."

The practical matter of Monster required resolution before the investigation team could proceed. Sucks announced: "Well, I'll just tell Monster to stay out here on the pig." The cat, thoroughly saturated with fish oil from earlier events in the session, would have made stealth impossible and left an obvious trail.

The investigation team accessed the second floor by taking stairs located in the back courtyard of the restaurant, the same alley where Sucks had previously searched through recycling. Upon entering Dunko Guzman's Private Quarters, they found a nicely decorated apartment that, while small, clearly reflected its occupant's nature. The apartment contained mostly sticks and feathers, appropriate furnishings for Dunko Guzman, who is a goose man.
