Summary
Carl is a pig who bonded with Katniss during Session 2 of the campaign. Carl was one of several pigs that the party took on a "test drive" and clearly intended to keep as permanent companions. During Session 2's events, Carl became known for carrying Monster the cat on his back. Though the party initially planned to keep Carl and the other pigs, Safia ultimately agreed to let them go free after negotiations with Mayor. Following the party's underground expedition in Session 3, Carl successfully survived in the forest and reunited with the group, demonstrating resilience and adaptation to independent living.
Appearance
Carl is a pig of unspecified size or coloring. During Session 2, Carl was observed with Monster sitting atop him, and the cat remained perched there even as Carl began to wander away. The image of the cat riding the pig was notable enough that observers remarked on the unusual sight of Monster neither getting off nor being dragged as Carl moved.
History

Carl received his name from Katniss, who bonded with the pig during the party's test drive of several pigs they had acquired. Carl stayed outside with Monster during the party's investigation activities in the session.
As negotiations between Safia and Mayor progressed, Carl began wandering toward the Rex Tree, with Monster still sitting on top. The pigs were slowly attempting to walk away from the party at this point. Despite Carl's movement, Monster remained perched on the pig's back—neither getting off voluntarily nor being physically dragged along. This behavior signaled the pigs' impending departure.
The session concluded with Safia agreeing to let the pigs, including Carl, go free as part of the arrangement reached with Mayor.

Carl reunites with the party following their escape from the underground caverns. The pig appears healthy and well-fed, having survived independently in the forest environment. Carl is found eating flowers together with Mayor, demonstrating both successful adaptation to foraging and that the pigs remained together during their time separated from the party. The reunion confirms Carl's continued bond with Katniss.
