Reunion with the Pigs

Summary

In Session 3, after the party emerges from underground caverns into the nighttime forest, all five pigs return from the wilderness where Safia had previously released them. Fajirald appears first at the stream, prompting Sucks to run to him, drop to his knees in an emotional embrace, and place Kate Bush mini disc headphones on the pig's ears. The remaining pigs—Paisley, Lutro, Carl, and Mayor—emerge one by one. Through Safia's animal communication abilities, Lutro negotiates new terms: the pigs will travel with the party only as autonomous partners who retain their freedom, not as property. Safia accepts this arrangement, though Sucks immediately collars Fajirald while agreeing to the terms.

Details

The reunion begins as the party reaches the forest. Movement catches their attention as "a portly figure comes waddling out of the trees on all fours and starts drinking out of the river." Sucks calls out, "Fitzgerald, is that you?" The pig raises its head from the water, revealing Fajirald.

Sucks runs to Fajirald, drops to his knees, and hugs the pig. He places the Kate Bush mini disc headphones on Fajirald's ears "to remind the pig who he is." One by one, the other four pigs emerge from the forest: Paisley, Lutro, Carl, and Mayor.

Through Safia's ability to communicate with animals, Lutro speaks on behalf of the pigs. The pig states, "You said we could be free. Do not take us back into bondage." Safia responds, "No illusion. No, no, no. We just got out of bondage, actually."

Lutro establishes the terms: "As long as our deal stands, we will consider coming with you on further adventures as long as we retain a degree of autonomy." Safia accepts this, telling the pigs, "You're like our partners."

Despite agreeing to these terms, Sucks immediately puts a collar on Fajirald.
