Dead Geese
Summary
The Dead Geese are two geese killed during combat in Dunko Guzman's apartment in Session 2 of the campaign. Following the fight, Vasso carefully arranges one of the geese on Dunko Guzman's desk to appear as if it is sleeping, a gesture reflecting his guilt over potentially killing what might have been the goose man's pets. The party takes the second goose for provisions, with Cat being particularly hungry at the time. The geese leave behind gooseblood that requires cleanup, which Sucks notes in a receipt meant for Dunko Guzman. In Session 3, the party gives one of their dead geese to robed cultists wearing animal masks as part of an unsuccessful diplomatic attempt, leaving them with only one goose and raising concerns about their dwindling food supplies.
Properties
The geese are ordinary dead birds that result from combat in Dunko's apartment. Their bodies are intact enough for Vasso to position one in a lifelike sleeping pose on a desk. The geese are suitable for consumption, prompting the party to claim one for food. They leave behind gooseblood that stains the apartment and becomes part of the cleanup responsibilities the party acknowledges.
History
Session 2
The geese become casualties during the confrontation at Dunko's apartment. After the combat concludes, Vasso collects the bodies and decides to display one respectfully. As one player describes it, "Vasso does. Can he displays it so it looks like it's sleeping." This careful arrangement stems from Vasso's lingering guilt, as he "still feels a little bit bad" about the possibility that these were Dunko Guzman's pets.
The party discusses what to do with the geese, with one player noting: "Wait, actually, speaking of gooseblood, Vassa is just gonna collect the dead geese. I assume there's probably like a couple of them just because like, this is, this is dinner." Cat's hunger becomes a factor in the decision to take one goose for food, with the simple statement "Cat's hungry" helping to settle the matter.
Sucks acknowledges the gooseblood cleanup in the receipt note being prepared for Dunko Guzman, stating: "we'll leave him and I, I'll. I'll include it in the receipt that when we solve the mystery, we'll clean up the gooseblood." This makes the dead geese part of the party's outstanding obligations to the apartment's owner.
Episode: "Session 3"
During Session 3, the party's dead geese became a focal point during their encounter with robed figures wearing animal masks. As part of an attempt to convince the cultists that they belonged with their group, the party gave one dead goose to the robed figures, including a Robed Figure with Dog Mask. This diplomatic gesture, while unsuccessful in its primary purpose, reduced the party's food supplies significantly.
The loss of one goose became a source of immediate concern for the party's provisions. Katniss specifically asked for clarification about their remaining supplies, stating "Do we have both of the dead geese or did we have to give them one of them?" The GM confirmed that one goose had indeed been given away, leaving the party with only one remaining goose and a Dead Fish. This situation was described as "Katniss freaking out because they're down to one goose and a dead fish," highlighting growing anxiety about their limited food security.
