Searching the Unconscious Guards
Summary
In Session 11 of the campaign, Sucks—still wearing the bear costume—searches two unconscious guards with assistance from Safia. The search yields 8 coins worth of valuables from the first guard and a blue access card from the second. The blue card becomes a key discovery when Kat produces a red access card she had found earlier outside the Sniffler's Cave for comparison. Safia draws on knowledge from her childhood to identify the cards' purpose, recognizing them as similar to access devices used in technologically advanced areas where adults would swipe them to enter restricted locations.
Details
The search begins with Sucks rifling through the pockets of the unconscious guards while still wearing the bear costume. As Sucks described it: "I'm rifling around in these pockets, and I'm still in the bear costume still. It looks like. Looks like the bear's trying to mug this guy."
The first guard yields approximately eight coins worth of valuables—described as "little plastic and metal chits." The second guard carries something more significant: an access card that appears identical to one Sucks had previously found outside of the Sniffler's Cave. Kat retrieves the earlier red card for comparison with this newly discovered blue card.
Safia examines the cards and recognizes their function. Drawing on memories from childhood, Safia recalls seeing adults use similar cards to gain entry to restricted areas that children were never permitted to access. This identification establishes the cards as technological access devices rather than simple tokens or currency.
Participants
- Sucks — Conducted the search while still in the bear costume, recovered the valuables and blue access card
- Safia — Assisted with the search and used Spell Lore knowledge to identify the access cards' function
- Kat — Provided the red access card found earlier for comparison
- Two unconscious guards — The subjects of the search
Consequences
- The party gained 8 coins worth of valuables in the form of plastic and metal chits
- A blue access card was recovered, adding to the party's collection of Access Cards
- Safia's identification established that these cards function as technological access devices for restricted areas
- The party now possessed at least two different colored access cards (red and blue), suggesting multiple security clearance levels within the facility
