Branch Reattachment Experiments
Summary
In Session 9, after Sucks Benedict successfully detached the Ever-Living Branch from his chest, the character conducted a series of experiments to determine optimal placement for the living wood prosthetic. Sucks Benedict considered multiple body locations—including comedic placements at his crotch and buttocks—before settling on a forehead-mounted configuration suggested by Cat. The experiments yielded an unexpected discovery: when mounted on Sucks Benedict's forehead in a unicorn-horn style, the branch created a superior connection to the Earth Mother Cult's spiritual network compared to Vasso's standard circlet, revealing a hierarchy in how different members interface with the cult's magic.
Details
The experimentation sequence began with Sucks Benedict considering various placements for the detached Ever-Living Branch. According to the session, "Sucks is wondering if he should put it like on his crotch. Cuz that would be pretty funny." Sucks Benedict also evaluated functional applications, reasoning that "If I put it on my butt, I could kind of have a tail. And then that would help with climbing."
Cat proposed a tactical application: "Sucks. What if you put it on your hip, and then it could help pick pockets while your hands were being alibis." This suggestion reflected consideration of how the living wood could serve as a functional tool during criminal activity.
Ultimately, Sucks Benedict adopted Cat's alternative suggestion and asked, "Can I put it back on my forehead, like cat sit, unicorn style?" Once the branch was mounted in this configuration, Sucks Benedict immediately tested its functionality by targeting Vasso's circlet: "And then I. I try and I poke. I poke Vaso in his circlet."
The forehead-mounted branch successfully interfaced with Vasso's Earth Mother Cult circlet. When Vasso asked "If it's the same as my circlet," Sucks Benedict reported a qualitative difference: "I wish. That'd be cool. It's. It's. It's more vibration than that." Brad observed the implications of this superior connection, noting: "Whoa. So his tree. His head branch is better than your head branch."
Participants
- Sucks Benedict — Conducted the experiments and wore the Ever-Living Branch in various configurations
- Cat — Proposed both the pickpocketing hip-mount and the final forehead configuration
- Vasso — Served as the test subject for the connection comparison, wearing a standard Earth Mother Cult circlet
- Brad — Observed and commented on the superior connection quality of Sucks Benedict's forehead mount
- Abdul — Present during the experiments
- Dayna — Present during the experiments
Consequences
- Sucks Benedict adopted a permanent forehead-mounted configuration for the Ever-Living Branch, creating a unicorn-horn appearance
- The experiments revealed that the Ever-Living Branch forehead mount provides a stronger connection to the Earth Mother Cult's spiritual network than standard circlets—described as "more vibration" than Vasso's equipment
- The discovery established a mechanical hierarchy in how different cult members interface with the Earth Mother Cult's magic, with Sucks Benedict's living wood prosthetic demonstrating superior integration
- The functional versatility of the Ever-Living Branch was demonstrated, confirming it could be reattached to different body locations for different purposes
