Capture and Imprisonment

Summary

The Capture and Imprisonment was the conclusion of Sucks and Vasso's failed escape attempt in Session 10 of the campaign. After their defeat in the barrel chamber, the Thunder Hogs dragged both prisoners through the Underground Tunnels Beneath New Smoke, enduring a barrage of increasingly desperate claims from Sucks about wealthy relatives and divine parentage. The Thunder Hogs confiscated their obvious weapons but missed Vasso's Gold Sneakers with Wings and circlet. Both prisoners were thrown into the same cell, while Cat and Safia remained free and undetected, having successfully followed the captors through the tunnels.

Details

Following the combat in the barrel chamber, the Thunder Hogs hauled Sucks and Vasso through the tunnel system. Sucks attempted multiple desperate deceptions during the journey, beginning with claims of family wealth: "My dad is rich. Do you know who my dad is?" The Thunder Hogs remained unimpressed, with one responding, "I don't care who your dad is, kid."

As the group moved deeper into the tunnels, the architecture changed from natural stone to solid gray poured material. The Thunder Hogs complained about their assignment throughout the march, with one saying "man, I don't know if this is worth it. This has been a lot of trouble" and another noting "Fucking hate this place. So many fucking kids in here." One guard expressed bewilderment at Sucks' behavior: "Have you ever been thrown in prison before? I, I, there's usually not this much back and forth."

Sucks' attempts at deception escalated. While watching Vasso pray, Sucks declared "My. My dad is God," which failed to change the Thunder Hogs' course of action.

During the journey, the Thunder Hogs searched the prisoners and confiscated their obvious weapons. They took Sucks' Dagger and Bow, and Vasso's sword and shield. However, they missed Vasso's circlet and Gold Sneakers with Wings.

Safia attempted to help by transforming into rat form and running up and down the Thunder Hogs' clothes searching for keys. Meanwhile, Cat used Hunt and Track, rolling a 6 that was aided to 8 by Safia's distracting chirps, allowing Cat to follow undetected.

The Thunder Hogs eventually reached a metal door. One guard opened it and pushed both Sucks and Vasso into the same room, slamming the door shut behind them. Even through the closed door, Sucks made one final attempt at deception, claiming "Dude, I don't know if you're outside, but my grandfather has like, 50 gold in his belly" and suggesting the grandfather had diarrhea.
