Summary

In Session 6, Sucks stages an elaborate practical demonstration to teach Vasso and the rest of the party about lying. Using Cat as a demonstration partner, Sucks orchestrates a fake collision followed by an increasingly theatrical performance involving a pretend assassination on behalf of the fictional "Count Duke Johnson." The demonstration includes staged violence with a stick serving as a fake knife, blood effects created from mushed flowers, and dramatic threats about the count's wife and mistress. Details

The demonstration begins with Sucks instructing Cat on the setup: "You look up and to the right and I'll look down into the left." The plan calls for them to bump shoulders while looking in opposite directions, simulating an accidental collision. Cat commits fully to the performance, sprawling dramatically into the dirt upon contact.

Cat then discovers mushed flowers nearby and improvises, smearing them on their face to create the appearance of bleeding. Sucks escalates the scenario by jumping on top of Cat and pulling out a stick he pretends is a knife. He delivers his lines: "I work for Count Duke Johnson. The Duke Count of Johnson. And he wanted me to send a message to you." Sucks continues the threat: "Hey. And I'll make it bleed even more if you ever cross the count again. His wife and his mistress are both off limits."

Vasso responds to the staged violence by attempting to intervene maturely, walking up and saying, "Hey. Okay. Sucks. Okay, that's enough. Katniss is hurt. You should apologize." Vasso then helps Cat up from the ground.

Multiple interruptions occur during the scene as Shawn receives food deliveries, breaking the flow of the demonstration and preventing it from reaching whatever conclusion Sucks had planned.

After the performance ends, Sucks and Cat hold hands and take theatrical bows together, pointing to an imaginary tech booth. Goober shows appreciation by extending two small pseudopods and slapping them together in applause. Safia emerges from the pig cart to observe, commenting that they thought the group was doing charades. Vasso attempts to maintain dignity by declaring, "Yeah, I knew. I knew the whole time that you're acting. Good job everyone."
