Discman

Summary

The Discman is a portable CD player given to Safiya by Fajirald the pig before the Pigs departed to their freedom in Session 2 of the campaign. Fajirald left the device specifically for Sucks, knowing it would comfort him during their separation. The Discman contains music by Kate Bush, and becomes a symbol of Sucks's grief and connection to Fajirald after the pigs' departure.

Properties

The Discman is a standard portable CD player with headphones. It contains at least one CD featuring "Running up that Hill" by Kate Bush—described as the only Kate Bush song Sucks knows. The device functions both with headphones for private listening and can be played aloud when the headphones are worn around the neck with the volume turned up, allowing others to hear the music.

History

Session 2

[Safiya receives the Discman from Fajirald](timestamp://32555a5b-8a7b-4879-853e-9940d9d04107/00:00) before the pigs leave. Fajirald entrusts Safiya with the device, intending it as a gift for Sucks.

After learning that the pigs have gone, Safiya hands the Discman to Sucks, explaining that Fajirald left it for him before departing. Sucks receives the device and immediately drops to his knees, putting on the headphones and listening to "Running up that Hill" by Kate Bush—confirmed to be the only Kate Bush song Sucks knows.

Rather than keep the music to himself, Sucks puts the headphones around his neck and turns up the volume so that everyone present can hear the music and share in the experience. He continues wearing the Discman in this fashion while investigating, making the music audible to the party.
