The search begins with Vasso entering the shed first, looking for practical tools—marbles, books, or anything that might prove useful for the upcoming mission. Despite Cat's prompting from outside the shed, Vasso finds nothing of value in the initial sweep.

Safia then searches through a pile of blankets in the corner. Digging through the fabric, Safia discovers a piece of wood that appears to be a branch from a tree. The branch is ragged at one end, but at the tip of a knot there grows a green leaf—still living despite being severed from its source. When Safia's analyzer sweeps over the object, it detects residual energy reminiscent of the tiny machines that make up Goober. The party identifies it as an "ever living branch," and speculation arises about whether the branch shares Yassandra's immortality: "Do you think it was immortal like he was?"

Sucks Benedict continues the search and uncovers two stoppered glass bottles, each filled with liquid. One bottle contains a shiny, copper-colored liquid that "almost looks like liquid copper," while the other holds a bright turquoise liquid.
