Cat Uses Called Shot to Free Safia

Summary

During Session 10, Cat executed a Called Shot to free Safia from a fleeing Thunder Hogs guard who had grabbed Safia's shirt. Through a chain of cooperative aid from the party—including Safia's struggling (rolling a 5, increased to 6 with bond), Sucks and Vasso working together as the bear lord, and Sucks making the bear mouth open while playing an Uncle Cracker song threatening "I know what you did to your brother, Stephen"—Cat's initial roll of 7 was transformed into a 10+ result. Cat jammed the back of her spear between the guard's arms, twisted to break his grip, then struck a pressure point on the side of the guard's neck. The guard stumbled, slammed into the ground head first, and was knocked unconscious, allowing the rescue mission to continue.

Details

The confrontation occurred when one of the Thunder Hogs guards attempted to flee while gripping Safia's shirt. Cat asked, "Can Cat just shoot the fabric that he's holding?" intending to use a Called Shot to break the guard's hold without harming Safia.

The execution required multiple layers of cooperative aid. Safia struggled in the guard's grip, rolling a 5 that was increased to 6 through bond mechanics. Sucks and Vasso aided by being the bear lord together, with Sucks making the bear mouth open and playing an Uncle Cracker song while saying through the bear, "I know what you did to your brother, Stephen." This chain of successful aid rolls escalated Cat's initial 7 into a 10+ result.

The GM described Cat's technique: "You take the back of your spear and you like jam it in. You stick it in between his arms and like twist it, breaking his hold on Safia and then whack him in the button in the side of his neck with the spear." Cat rolled 7 damage on her d8.

Following the strike, the GM noted: "And you're absolutely certain that it was the button that did this and not the fact that once you hit him in the button, he stumbles and slams into the ground head first and is knocked out cold." The guard was incapacitated by the combination of the pressure point strike and the subsequent impact with the ground.

After the successful takedown, Cat held up her spear and declared, "I named the button presser."
