Thunderhog Leader
Summary
The Thunderhog Leader commands the Thunderhog Gang occupation of New Smoke in Session 11 of the campaign. A scraggly, built man approximately 5'9" to 5'10" tall with greasy black hair and a long beard, he orchestrates the gang's search for a mysterious object called The Casket. The leader holds the town's mayor prisoner in The Dressing Room, interrogating her to discover the casket's location. He sets a deadline of "tomorrow's sunset" for completing the gang's mission, after which he promises the Thunderhogs will abandon New Smoke for "higher, more grandiose, lofty goals."
The leader maintains authority over his subordinates through speeches delivered from a raised platform with a throne-like seat in The Big Chamber—formerly used by the mayor for town council meetings. Despite his position of command, he appears weary of constant speechmaking, telling his followers "I've given a lot of speeches lately. I'm kind of running out of steam."
Appearance
The Thunderhog Leader is a man of built physique standing between 5'9" and 5'10" tall. He has greasy black hair worn long, paired with a long beard. His appearance is described as scraggly, matching the rough aesthetic of the gang he commands.
Like his subordinates, he wears one of the ear cuff communication devices that allow the Thunderhogs to coordinate throughout the occupied facility. This equipment enables him to communicate with gang members across New Smoke and conduct his interrogation of the mayor while simultaneously managing his forces.
History
Session 11
The Thunderhog Leader addresses his gang from the raised platform in the Big Chamber, attempting to rally his followers despite his own exhaustion. "No, like brothers, please. Our work is almost done. We get closer and closer each day," he tells them, setting a firm deadline: "Our illustrious guest will tell us all we need to know. And by setting of tomorrow's sun, we will have what we need."
When interrupted by a subordinate during this speech—a Thunderhog identified as Sucks—the leader responds tersely: "I'm in the middle of a speech." He continues his address with visible fatigue: "Look, guys, I've given a lot of speeches lately. I'm kind of running out of steam. But you know what?" Despite this weariness, he maintains his promise to the gang: "Just one more day. That's all it's gonna take. One more day."
Through Safia's monitoring of the ear cuff communication device, the party overhears the leader's private interrogation of the mayor in his dressing room. He pressures her to reveal the casket's whereabouts: "Just tell us where this thing is and we'll let you go" and "We'll be gone as soon as we get what we want, this place won't matter anymore." The mayor insists she knows nothing about the casket, but "he doesn't seem to believe her."
The leader's promises to his followers reveal the gang's motivation: "The mayor's gonna tell us everything that we need to know. She's gonna tell us where the casket is. We're gonna find the casket. We're gonna retrieve it. Here is going to give us everything we've ever dreamed of."
Safia's assessment of the situation, based on the intercepted communications, suggests the leader's confidence may be false bravado: "I think he's all bluster because he's telling everybody that tomorrow's the day, but it seems like he's no closer to knowing what he needs."
During the session's confrontation, Erin throws a rock that strikes the Thunderhog Leader in the head. Blood trickles down his forehead before he slumps to the ground, unconscious or dead.
