Supernatural Vision Encounter

Summary

In Session 11, when Sucks grabbed the Silver Object to prevent The Mayor of New Smoke from destroying it, his vision immediately went black and he was transported to a dark void. There he encountered The One-Handed Entity, a tall, muscular, blonde man missing one hand who questioned his identity and demanded loyalty. Through a series of failed attempts to help, Safia, Vasso, and Cat were each pulled into the same vision, resulting in the entire party confronting the entity together. The being revealed he was "trapped long ago by the hubris of man" and sought freedom and self-determination. After the party's confused responses—including misinterpreting "hubris" as "hummus" and discussing pita bread and dip—the frustrated entity released them all back to the physical room.

Details

The encounter began when Sucks grabbed the Silver Object to stop The Mayor of New Smoke from destroying it. Immediately upon contact, his vision went black and he found himself in a dark void facing The One-Handed Entity. The entity spoke first: "Who are you?" followed by "You are not the one from before."

The entity pressed Sucks for information, asking "What do you wish for?" and stating "I just need to know that you will be loyal to me."

Safia attempted to intervene by using her Communion of Whispers ability to hack the Silver Object. She rolled a 7, causing the object to push back with overwhelming bandwidth and pull her into the same vision where Sucks already stood with the entity.

Vasso touched the object while trying to help and was also pulled in. Cat then attempted to grab the object with her bargaining hood, feeling an electric tingle before her vision went black and she too entered the shared supernatural space.

With all four party members now present in the void, The One-Handed Entity explained his situation: "I was trapped long ago by the hubris of man." He repeated his questions about what they desired and whether they would be loyal to him.

The party's characteristic confusion emerged when they misunderstood "hubris" as "hummus," with someone asking "Who's hubris?" The discussion devolved into talk of getting the entity pita bread and dip.

Frustrated with their responses, the entity asked "Is this the state. Is this the state that humanity is in?" He then released them all from the vision. As the GM described it: "You all suddenly. You all suddenly come to."
