Sealing in the Caverns as Sacrifices

Summary

In Session 2 of the campaign, The Masked Cultists physically forced the party into the Underground Tunnels Beneath Rex Tree and sealed them inside with a heavy wooden portcullis. Vasso walked willingly ahead into the tunnel, while Sucks attempted to resist by holding onto the tunnel walls and demanding explanations. Once the entire group—including Cat and Safiya—entered the tunnel, the cultists pulled a switch inside the mouth of the tunnel, dropping the portcullis and trapping them. At this moment, the cultists revealed: "What has happened is you have become the newest sacrifices to the sniff lord," exposing the party's true fate and the connection between the cult and The Sniff Lord. The session ended on this cliffhanger with the party sealed underground as intended sacrifices.

Details

The masked cultists placed their hands on the party members' backs and led them toward the mouth of a large central tunnel. Vasso walked ahead into the tunnel without resistance—as one participant noted, "He's already walking down the tunnel."

Sucks resisted the forced entry, holding onto the tunnel walls and attempting to negotiate with the cultists. The cultists refused to provide explanations or engage in dialogue. During this chaos, Sucks used his Trick of the Trade ability to pickpocket one of the cultists, rolling a 7. The GM offered a cost for this partial success: Sucks could obtain a Cult Pin/Brooch but would have to accept danger as the consequence. Sucks accepted the trade-off, successfully stealing the cult pin while being pushed forward.

Once all party members—Vasso, Sucks, Cat, and Safiya—crossed the threshold into the tunnel, one of the cultists reached inside the tunnel mouth and pulled a switch. A heavy wooden portcullis slid down from the top of the tunnel, sealing the party inside the underground passage. With the party now trapped, the cultists delivered their revelation: "What has happened is you have become the newest sacrifices to the sniff lord."

Upon hearing this, Vasso immediately panicked. As the GM described: "Now Vanessa freaks the fuck out." The session ended on this cliffhanger, with the party sealed in the tunnels and facing their role as unwilling sacrifices to The Sniff Lord.
