Sucks's Failed Social Infiltration
Summary
In Session 11, following the Thunderhog leader's speech, Sucks attempts to infiltrate the gang by posing as a new recruit and gathering intelligence through casual conversation. He approaches a group of three Thunderhogs—a man, a woman, and a hooded figure who identifies as the gang's medic—and tries to blend in with an elaborate cover story. The infiltration fails when his suspicious explanation for not being present earlier raises red flags with the group, particularly the Thunderhog Medic, who points out inconsistencies in his story. The encounter ends with the group rejecting Sucks and walking away, though he persists in offering them membership in his bridge club.
Details
After the Thunderhog leader's speech concludes, Sucks approaches a small group of gang members in an attempt to gather information. The group consists of three Thunderhogs: one man, one woman, and a person wearing a full hood. When the group notices him, they immediately question his presence: "Hey, what's up? Hi. New?"
Sucks responds affirmatively, claiming, "I'm new. I just got recruited a little while ago. I've been having some trouble making friends." He adds that he "tried to start a bridge club a little earlier. Nobody really wanted to join."
The group presses him on being new, asking when he was recruited. Sucks elaborates with a detailed excuse: "I was accepted before... Because I on the way here, I ate a sandwich I found on the side of the road, and I got really bad diarrhea." He explains that this caused a delay in his arrival, claiming "I didn't tell anyone because I shit my pants, so I got really embarrassed."
The Thunderhog Medic, the hooded figure in the group, becomes suspicious of this explanation. The medic points out that they would have heard about any illness among the gang members, exposing a hole in Sucks's cover story.
Realizing the conversation is going poorly, the group decides to leave. Sucks makes one final attempt to salvage the interaction, calling after them: "All right, well, if you guys change your mind about bridge, come find me."
Participants
- Sucks — Attempted to infiltrate the Thunderhogs by posing as a new recruit; used a diarrhea-related excuse as his cover story
- Thunderhog Medic — A hooded gang member who identified as the gang's medic; saw through Sucks's cover story by noting they would have heard about any illness
- Two other Thunderhogs — A man and a woman who were part of the group Sucks approached; became suspicious of his story and left with the medic
Consequences
- Sucks's cover as a potential Thunderhog recruit became compromised with at least three gang members who can now identify him as suspicious
- The failed infiltration revealed Sucks's pattern of using diarrhea-related excuses as cover stories, a tactic that proved ineffective under scrutiny
- Sucks's earlier attempt to start a bridge club among guards became known to the Thunderhogs, potentially connecting his current infiltration attempt to his previous activities
- The encounter demonstrated the risks of Sucks's social approach to intelligence gathering, though it did not result in immediate hostile action from the gang
