What the party initially believed was unique to Goober is revealed to emanate from multiple sources, fundamentally changing their understanding of who controls the construct.

The connectivity field operates as an invisible technological network that Safia's implants can detect and access. When interfacing with the field, she can communicate with machines "not with your words," as Nick Silver describes it, but through direct technological connection. This allows for silent, remote control and communication with compatible devices.
The field's detection requires specific technological capabilities. Safia discovers its properties through a successful Discern Realities roll, demonstrating that identifying and interpreting the field requires both the right equipment (her implants) and active investigation.

When Nick Silver presses his hand to Goober's side and causes the construct to transform into a cube and produce a pumpkin pie, Safia performs a Discern Realities check to understand what is happening.
Through this investigation, Safia makes a critical observation: "The connectivity field that you get off Goober, you're all getting off of his staff." This revelation establishes that Nick Silver's Staff emits the same connectivity field previously associated only with Goober, proving that Nick Silver has the technological capability to control the construct remotely.
Nick Silver's explanation of his capabilities—"I have a way with the machines"—takes on new meaning with this discovery.
