Ghillie Suit

Summary

The Ghillie Suit is a camouflage garment made of moss and leaves, originally owned by the Pine Cone Man. In Session 7 of the campaign, Sucks Benedict steals the suit and uses it in an attempt to hide from the New Smoke Guards during their investigation. The suit functions through unexplained magical or comedic logic rather than practical concealment, successfully camouflaging Sucks despite the absurdity of the disguise covering only his head while leaving the rest of his body—including Goober in a Bjorn carrier—completely exposed.

Properties

The ghillie suit is constructed from moss and leaves, fitting over the wearer's head like a luchador-style mask. When worn by Sucks Benedict, the suit covers only his head, leaving his entire body visible below, including the Bjorn carrier containing Goober. Despite this impractical coverage, the suit possesses seemingly magical camouflage properties.

When the New Smoke Guards enter the tent and look directly at the disguised Sucks sitting in a chair in the middle of the tent, they squint and cannot perceive him, stating "I don't see anything. I don't see anything in the middle of the tent." The guards conclude that "Everything seems normal here. Just a cat riding a headless man," apparently seeing Goober on the exposed Bjorn carrier but not recognizing the leaf-covered head above as a person. The suit's effectiveness defies practical explanation, working through some form of magical or comedic logic rather than actual concealment.

History

Session 7

During the New Smoke Guards' investigation of the tent, Sucks Benedict steals the Pine Cone Man's ghillie suit and puts it on top of himself as an improvised disguise. The theft and use of the suit occurs as the guards search the area. When the guards enter and look directly at Sucks—who is sitting in a chair in the middle of the tent with only his head covered by moss and leaves—they cannot see him despite the obvious absurdity of the disguise. The guards perceive only "a cat riding a headless man," unable to register Sucks's presence even while looking straight at him.
