Pigs and cart
Summary
The pigs and cart are a group of pigs lashed three-by-three to pull a cart, recovered by the party and subsequently sold to Louise Guzman. In Session 4 of the campaign, these pigs were being transported as part of the party's arrangement with Guzman, hauling the shipment to New Smoke. Louise Guzman purchased the pigs from the party and fronted them the cache (payment) in advance. The pigs represent both a commodity and evidence of the party's persuasive abilities.
Properties
The pigs are configured in a three-by-three arrangement, lashed together to pull a cart containing the shipment. Rather than requiring constant supervision or coercion, the pigs appear content with their situation. The party successfully convinced the pigs that they are "masters of their own fate," leading them to believe they are pulling the cart of their own volition. This persuasion manifests in the pigs' behavior—they act as though their journey along the open road is a choice they made freely, with the GM noting "we're going this way because we want to."
The arrangement demonstrates practical utility as a transport solution while also showcasing the party's capacity for social manipulation or animal handling. The pigs "love" and are "enjoying the opportunity to hit the open road," suggesting the party's persuasion created genuine enthusiasm rather than mere compliance.
History
Session 4
The pigs and cart were actively in use during the party's journey to New Smoke. Louise Guzman had already purchased them from the party and fronted the payment (cache) for the transaction. The party had "recovered" these pigs at some point prior to this session and established their current configuration.
During the session, the pigs pulled the cart containing the shipment as part of the arrangement with Louise Guzman. Their contentment with the situation—believing themselves to be traveling by choice—remained evident throughout the journey. The party's earlier persuasion work continued to hold, with the pigs maintaining their conviction that they controlled their own destiny despite being harnessed to the cart.
